UBTECH, a Chinese AI and Robotics company, has unveiled a humanoid robot named “Panda,” which will be deployed as a robot guide for the China Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The 1.3-meter-tall, 63-kg robot has an adorable black and white expressive face. Combined with its fun and engaging behavior, Panda is expected to be a popular draw for robot enthusiasts and audiences globally.

The UBTECH Panda Robot was designed using the iconic panda image and includes unique cutting-edge technologies based on Walker, a humanoid service robot. The robot’s expressive and life-like expression, combined with its multi-modal design, aims to demonstrate UBTECH’s spirit of innovation, collaboration, and determination.

Expo 2020 Dubai will be open on October 1, 2021. The UBTECH Panda Robot will obtain its debut as the Global Ambassador for Peace and Friendship and will guide visitors to the China Pavilion. The China Pavilion will exhibit smart agriculture, eco-friendly products, and solutions that align with the country’s long-advocated “green” development. It will also showcase other Chinese arts to illustrate how Chinese traditional culture is blended with the new information era.

By 2023, the humanoid robot market appears to reach USD 3,962.5 million. Evidently, Toyota’s display of the Robot Mascots and the Cue Robot that played basketball received a huge response at the Tokyo Olympics.

The Panda Robot is proof to show that UBTECH has applied AI to its proprietary robots, such as computer vision for service robots, autonomous navigation and positioning, hand-eye coordination, high-performance servo joints, motion planning and control, and voice technology.

Even during the pandemic, UBTECH was capable of marketing cost-effective, technologically advanced anti-epidemic robotic solutions used in countries such as China, the United States, Japan, the Netherlands, and even Rwanda to further control the spread of COVID-19 and implement solutions for the return to pre-pandemic situations.
