Saildrone, the premier manufacturer and distributor of reliable uncrewed surface vehicles (USVs), has announced the completion of its $100 million Series C financing. The company has now reached a total funding of $190M.

BOND led the series-C round, Along with the new investors such as XN, Standard Investments, Emerson Collective, and Crowley Maritime Corporation. Former investors such as Capricorn’s Technology Impact Fund, Lux Capital, Social Capital, and Tribe Capital also had participated in the round.

Saildrone will deploy the new funding to expand Saildrone’s data insight teams and scale go-to-market functions to fulfill the soaring demand for ocean domain intelligence.

Saildrone’s products are built upon the data obtained from a fleet of uncrewed surface vehicles (USVs) generated fundamentally by renewable wind and solar power. Saildrone USVs are the most dynamic autonomous vehicles on the planet that can sail over 500,000 nautical miles and operate for more than 15,000 days seamlessly, even in the most severe conditions.

Saildrone USVs have shown their significant endurance from the ice edge in the high Arctic to the unfriendly Southern Ocean with their ability to gather rich data with high precision.

Last week, Saildrone USV navigated the heart of Hurricane Sam in the world for the first time by exerting scientific measurements and capturing HD video to contribute to the understanding of hurricane forecasting.

It also employs proprietary machine learning to offer marine domain awareness for various security and law operations other than gathering scientific data for climate intelligence and high-resolution bathymetric mapping of the ocean floor.
