Thanks to the Grab company, Visitors Of Paya Lebar Quarter mall in Singapore can now encounter a moving robot called A.H.B.O.I.

Grab holdings, shortly called Grab, is a Singapore-based multinational company that offers services, such as transportation, food delivery services, and digital payment assistance through their mobile app. Founded in 2012, Grab chiefly operates in southeast Asia. Grab’s mission is to drive Southeast Asia forward by creating economic empowerment for everyone.

A.H.B.O.I Robot is a recent launch of Grab, designed to assist delivery riders in collecting food orders. A.H.B.O.I stand for Autonomous Handling and Batching Operating Intelligence. A.H.B.O.I operate at a speed of < 1.5 m/s.

A.H.B.O.I operate by consolidating food orders from multiple stores and handing them off to delivery riders at a central collection point. It helps the delivery riders, reducing their walking time for running across various stories in the mall to pick up the order. A.H.B.O.I can consolidate and ferry over 350 orders. Grab mentioned that the A.H.B.O.I have reduced the waiting time by 15 minutes.

Since Autonomous solutions can undergo failures, Grab specifically designed the Robot to learn continuously from the external surroundings and learn seamlessly to improve from failures. Techmetics Robotics, a pioneer in autonomous mobile robotic solutions, partnered with Grab to design this friendly Robot. Currently, Grab has stationed one mobility base robot and two food courts. Sanitization of the Robot’s internal surface takes place every two hours to ensure safety and hygiene.

Undoubtedly, A.H.B.O.I would act in Grab’s way- to make better mistakes and improve from them. A.H.B.O.I is currently running on an adventure, and you can its live updates on its official Twitter handle –@grabsg.
